Bernhard Ullrich had a rocky start to his musical life at 6 years as his parents decided that the zither would be a great instrument to learn promising a great career (yeah, right!). 10 years, several awards and no career later Bernhard decided - this time on his own - to learn the saxophone. Well – almost on his own - of course there was this cute girl (“I just loooove the saxophone)... He never got the girl but now he was stuck with the saxophone. After having studied Jazz in Stuttgart, Bernhard tricked the German government into paying him huge sums of money to continue studying at the New School in New York. To this day it is not clear whether it was actually the German government tricking him to leave the country. Bernhard stayed in New York ever since even making some kind of a name for himself (not necessarily as a saxophone player but as a valet - still holding the speed record for parking a car on a 200 yard parking lot). His name shows up on dozens of CD’s, numerous awards (Downbeat etc.), and thousands of band posters while touring all over the world, – i.e with ‘Dem Brooklyn Bums’ (the gigs in Germany did raise some eyebrows within the local government) Most recent recordings include such artists as’ Dave’s True Story’, Phishbacher, ‘The Cocker Band’, ‘Eskimos Ecstacy’ ‘Manchebo’ 'Dem Brooklyn Bums'. and his own Horn Section ‘The Metro Section’. The zither serves as a stylish bedside table now.

Bernhard Ullrich hatte einen schwierigen Start in sein musikalisches Leben im Alter von 6 Jahren, als seine Eltern beschlossen, daß die Zither ein wunderbares Instrument für ihn wäre und große Karrierechancen in sich birge (Hm?). 10 Jahre, mehrere Preise und keine Karriere später beschloß Bernhard - diesmal ohne Mithilfe von außen - das Saxophonspielen zu erlernen. Naja, fast ohne Mithilfe - natürlich war da dieses süße Mädchen ("Hach, ich lieeebe das Saxophon")... Das Mädchen bekam er nicht, dafür erwischte ihn die Liebe fürs Saxophon. Nach dem Jazz Studium in Stuttgart ergaunerte sich Bernahrd von der deutschen Bundesregierung eine ansehnliche Geldsumme, um an der New School in New York sein Studium fortzusetzen. Bis zum heutigen Tag ist es nicht klar, ob es nicht die deutsche Regierung war, die Bernhard mit Geldgaben bestach, damit er das Land verlassen würde. Bernhard lebte in New York bis zum Sommer 2008, und machte sich da sogar einen Namen (nicht unbedingt als Saxophonist sonderns ans professioneller Autoparker - er hält immer noch den Rekord im Autoparken auf einem 200 Meter großen Parkplatz). Sein Name ist auf Dutzenden CDs zu finden, mit mehreren Auszeichnungen (Down Beat etc.), und Tausenden von Band Postern während seiner Touren quer durch die Welt, - zum Beispiel mit "Dem Brooklyn Bums". Jüngere Aufnahmen gibt es mit Künstlern wie 'Dave's True Story', Phishbacher, ‘The Cocker Band’, ‘Eskimos Ecstacy’ ‘Manchebo’ 'Dem Brooklyn Bums' und mit seiner eigenen Hornsection 'The Metro Section'. Die Zither hat Bernhard zum hochstilisierten Nachtkästchen umfunktioniert.
